Drag car demonstrations are roaring back to the bp Adelaide Grand Final with a thunderous bang! Positioned at key vantage points around the iconic Adelaide Street circuit, this electrifying showcase will bring a pulse pounding blend of noise, tyre smoke and blazing flames to our four-day motorsport event.

 

Three of the fiercest classes in drag racing will be burning and rising temps:

PHIL LAMATTINA - LTFR TOP FUEL

Phil Lamattina, known affectionately as The Carrot King, is a two-time Top Fuel Champion and one of Australia’s most electrifying drag racers. After an eight-month break from the seat, Lamattina made a fiery return to competition at the 2025 Westernationals, reigniting his passion and proving he’s still a force to be reckoned with.

 

His comeback culminated in a spectacular maiden Top Fuel win under the new National Drag Racing Championship era at the Riverbend Nationals. With blistering runs and back-to-back holeshot victories, Lamattina powered his 12,000hp FUCHS dragster to glory, thrilling fans and reaffirming his place among the sport’s elite (Source: nationaldragracing.com.au).

With a drag racing career spanning over 46 years, Tim Stewart is a true veteran of the sport. From Modified and Supercharged Outlaw to the explosive Nitro Funny Car class, Tim has raced it all—and won. He holds an ANDRA National Record for E/A, and his trophy cabinet includes multiple ANDRA Silver Christmas Trees, a Copper Christmas Tree, and countless race wins.

 

Tim’s Nitro journey began in the 2022/2023 Nitro Max series, where he piloted Rory Taylor’s “Thumper” car to a championship win. In 2023, he debuted his own Nitro Funny Car, ‘In A Frenzy’, which roared through its first season to finish runner-up in the 2023/2024 Nitro Max series.

 

Featured at the Nitro Up North Triple Crown in Darwin 2024, ‘In A Frenzy’ is a fan-favourite—built to thrill and engineered to fly.
