EXPERIENCE THE THRILL OF DEFENCE POWER ON THE GROUND AND IN THE AIR
The Australian Defence Force is set to take the bp Adelaide Grand Final to new heights this year, with the iconic Air Force Balloon joining a military showcase featuring aviation heritage, Army hardware and family-friendly entertainment.
In a rare appearance at the event, the Air Force Balloon will be a standout attraction near Gate 1, rising to approximately 32 metres when fully inflated.
Please note: Defence displays are subject to change due to operational requirements.
ON THE GROUND
On the ground at Defence Corner, Army will return to showcase its capabilities with armoured vehicles and advanced weapon systems.
Team Army will also return to entertain crowds with its popular custom performance vehicles, including long-time fan favourite Project Digger. Joining the 1978 Ford LTD will be the newly upgraded six-wheel-drive G-Wagon, Matilda, featuring a supercharged 5.2-litre V8 engine and an impressive audio-visual package.
For entertainment of a different kind, the Australian Army Band – Adelaide will provide musical performances to keep Defence Corner rocking.
As always, visitors will also have the opportunity to meet ADF Careers personnel and learn more about the diverse roles and opportunities available across the Navy, Army and Air Force.
IN THE AIR
Look to the skies, the Air Force is back!
In another showcase of historic aviation, warbirds from Air Force’s 100 Squadron will make their bp Adelaide Grand Final debut with a flypast over the race weekend.
100 Squadron operates Air Force’s fleet of historic aircraft to preserve and showcase Australia’s aviation heritage, while commemorating those who have served our nation.
In addition to the warbirds, a solo Pilatus PC-21 from the Air Force Roulettes aerobatics team will provide precision flying displays over the event.
New for the 2026 bp Adelaide Grand Final, the iconic Air Force balloon will be a standout attraction near Gate 1. Visitors will be able to enjoy a short tethered flight rising 50 feet above the ground.
