Supercars Finals Series Field Locked In

The 10 drivers to contest the inaugural Supercars Finals series – which culminates in the bp Adelaide Grand Final – are confirmed, following the conclusion of Supercars’ Enduro Cup.
Across the Elimination Final at the Gold Coast 500 and Semi Final at the Sandown 500, six of these drivers will progressively be eliminated, leaving four drivers to contest the 2025 Supercars championship at the bp Adelaide Grand Final.
For the first time in 2025, the Supercars champion will be decided through a three-event Finals series.
Red Bull Ampol Racing drivers Broc Feeney and Will Brown, as well as Dewalt Racing’s Anton De Pasquale, will be racing for the championship in their Chevrolet Camaros.
Penrite Racing’s Matt Payne and his teammate Kai Allen, Monster Castrol Racing’s Cam Waters and his teammate Thomas Randle, Mobil 1 Optus Racing’s Chaz Mostert and his teammate Mobil 1 Truck Assist Racing’s Ryan Wood, and Shell V-Power Racing Team’s Brodie Kostecki will be racing Ford Mustangs.
These 10 drivers accumulated the most points based on their race results in 10 rounds held at racetracks across Australia and New Zealand this year.
All 24 Supercars drivers will continue to race throughout the Finals series and will be eligible to win races and spray the champagne on the podium after collecting their trophies.
Only one of the 10 Finals contenders will have the honour of hoisting the championship trophy to Adelaide’s Pit Straight crowd on the last Sunday in November.
THE 2025 ENDURO CUP WINNER
Payne strengthened his place in Supercars’ Finals series by winning the Enduro Cup – the driver who performed best across the two endurance events held at The Bend (where he finished 3rd) and Bathurst (where he finished 1st).
Payne had already qualified for the Finals by accumulating enough points during the first 25 completed races of the season.
However, the Enduro Cup win comes with an extra 25 bonus points that will give him a headstart to get through the first round of the Finals series at the Gold Coast, with three drivers to be eliminated after that event.
“It’s going to give us that extra (points) buffer which is nice, but still, we’ll really have to keep the pedal to the metal to try and secure as many points as we can,” Payne said after his Enduro Cup win.
“We always want to be as far up (in the points standings) as we can, to make sure we are as safe as can be – it’s going to be all to play for when we get (to the Gold Coast) – action packed racing and we’re going to have to be ready for it.”
Sprint Cup winner Feeney was a hot favourite among Supercars fans to continue his winning run into the Enduro Cup.
However, pit stop problems at The Bend saw him finish 19th, robbing him of crucial points to get a lead in the Enduro Cup, too.
Kostecki had then looked unsurpassable for the Enduro Cup, winning the first round at The Bend before qualifying in pole position at Bathurst.
The Bathurst 1000 lived up to its thrilling reputation, with rain causing racing that was so chaotic, the winner was not certain until well into the final lap.
As other Enduro Cup contenders Feeney, Brown, Waters, Mostert, Wood and Kostecki dropped out of Bathurst-winning contention, due to crashes and engine malfunctions, Payne managed to rise to the lead late in the race.
After qualifying 18th on the grid, he held off fierce competition from other drivers on the last few laps to win Bathurst.
THE ELIMINATION FINAL
The 10 drivers who qualified for the Finals series will start racing for the championship at the Gold Coast 500 – the Elimination Final – to secure a place in the Semi Final.
They start the Elimination Final with a points allocation, which is based on their 2025 season results to the end of the Bathurst round:
- Broc Feeney – 3175 points
- Matthew Payne – 3145 points
- Will Brown – 3096 points
- Cam Waters – 3078 points
- Brodie Kostecki – 3066 points
- Chaz Mostert – 3057 points
- Anton De Pasquale – 3048 points
- Thomas Randle – 3039 points
- Ryan Wood – 3030 points
- Kai Allen – 3021 points
At the end of the Gold Coast 500’s two races, the three drivers who have accumulated the lowest number of points – and also do not win a race at the event – will be eliminated from the Finals race.
That is because any driver in Finals contention who wins a race at the Gold Coast automatically qualifies for the Semi Final at the Sandown 500, regardless of their points allocation.
Therefore, Randle, Wood and Allen, in particular, as the drivers with the lowest points totals, will want to win one of the two races to be sure they will secure their place in the Semi Final.
Seven drivers will race for the championship at the Sandown 500 Semi Final, after which three drivers will be eliminated and four drivers will progress to compete at the championship-decider at the bp Adelaide Grand Final.
THE BP ADELAIDE GRAND FINAL
With the top 10 drivers to compete in Supercars’ Finals series now confirmed, the field of contenders who Adelaide race fans will see collect the 2025 championship trophy in Pit Straight has reduced.
Brown will be hoping for back-to-back championship wins after clinching the 2024 Supercars championship on the Saturday of last year’s Adelaide event.
Kostecki also clinched his championship at the 2023 Adelaide event, where he was showered in confetti as he stood atop his race car to celebrate with fans in the grandstand after the Sunday race.
Mostert and Waters have never won in Adelaide on a Sunday, although they have on a Saturday, and also have never won a championship – so their desire to accumulate the most points across the three bp Adelaide Grand Final races may be the greatest.
Feeney and Payne have both won Adelaide titles by surviving the concrete-lined race circuit during the Sunday race, in 2022 and 2023 respectively, so know that it takes speed as well as precision to get the win.
De Pasquale, Randle, Wood and Allen have never won races at Adelaide, so if they make it through to the Grand Final, will need to rise to the pressure.
The Elimination Final may reveal an early favourite to win the title, with the Gold Coast street circuit more similar in style to the Adelaide street circuit than the location of the Semi Final, Sandown Raceway.
Regardless of the Finals results, the remaining 20 drivers in the Supercars field will also be racing in Adelaide, and will be out to steal some of the spotlight off of the champion by winning Adelaide races and trophies.
