SUPERCARS FINALS FIELD TAKES SHAPE

Eight drivers are now locked in for the 2026 Supercars Finals Series following a wet and wild AirTouch 500 at The Bend Motorsport Park.

Matt Payne, Broc Feeney, Kai Allen, Brodie Kostecki, Cameron Waters, Anton De Pasquale, Will Brown and Chaz Mostert have secured their place in the finals, with the last two spots to be decided at the upcoming Repco Bathurst 1000.

Ryan Wood and Jack Le Brocq currently sit within the top 10 in the race for the finals, with Andre Heimgartner, Thomas Randle, Jayden Ojeda and James Golding still in contention. Wood is almost certain to qualify with the points advantage, while just 87 points separates Le Brocq in 10^th and Golding in 14^th place.

Mostert and Fabian Coulthard claimed victory from 11th on the grid in the AirTouch 500, surviving the treacherous wet conditions to win by a dominant 18-second margin.

It marked a debut endurance win for the Toyota GR Supra, with Walkinshaw TWG Racing teammates Wood and Jaxon Evans climbing from 14th to third to round out the podium, with Grove Racing’s South Australian duo Allen and Tim Slade in second place.

It was a first win in a 500km endurance race for Mostert, while it was a first Supercars win for Coulthard since 2020.

The championship lead changed hands at The Bend with Payne moving ahead of Feeney, who was out of contention following early-race tangles for co-driver Nick Percat.

Heading to Bathurst, Payne leads Feeney by 120 points with Allen in third and Kostecki and Waters rounding out the top five – an all-Ford top five. De Pasquale is the top Chevrolet entrant in sixth with Toyota pair Mostert and Wood in eighth and ninth.

In the race for the last finals places, it was a disastrous day for Golding with the Blanchard Racing Team suffering a double disqualification for failing to meet the minimum required drive time for the main drivers. Golding looked set to take a big step to finals qualification, finishing in seventh before the disqualification.

The Repco Supercars Championship now heads to Mount Panorama for the Repco Bathurst 1000 on October 8 to 11. Following the conclusion of Bathurst, the Supercars Finals kicks off at the Gold Coast.
