Multiple Adelaide 500 and Supercars champion, Marcos Ambrose will help welcome in the new era of the bp Adelaide Grand Final in 2025, alongside his Bathurst winning, star-of-the-future daughter Tabitha Ambrose as the 2025 event ‘Fanbassadors’.
The Ambrose family have a wealth of motorsport talent and will showcase the multigenerational appeal of the new down-to-the-wire Repco Supercars Championship Finals Series in their joint role.
With similarities to the NASCAR Cup Series play-off’s, a multi-round elimination process to determine the ultimate champion, the new grand final format will be of familiarity to the Ambrose family, with four contenders, three races and one champion to be crowned in Adelaide.
The bp Adelaide Grand Final will also celebrate the 40th anniversary of the globally loved Adelaide Street Circuit, which includes five separate historic race wins for Marcos between 2003 and 2005 on its honour roll.
Marcos won back-to-back Supercars championships in his iconic BA Falcon in 2003 and 2004, before gaining international recognition for his NASCAR career. This included seven wins across tiers one and two level of competition in the United States.
Having stepped back from racing a decade ago, Marcos still plays a vital role in building the careers of various drivers with his own motorsport team, including his daughter Tabitha.
Claiming a class-victory at the Bathurst six-hour earlier this year, Tabitha has made a rapid start to her racing career, and at 19 years-of-age is taking on the next generation of motorsport stars in the highly competitive Formula Ford series.
Accumulating 147 starts and 28 victories in Australia’s premier motorsport category, Marcos has been one of the most successful stars of the sport and will return to Adelaide with Tabitha to greet fans and give their judgement during the guaranteed title-decider 27 – 30 November.
bp Adelaide Grand Final attendees can expect to see Marcos and Tabitha around the event and on the @adl.gf social media channels with more exciting responsibilities to be shared closer to the event.
Marcos Ambrose said: “I have many great memories in Adelaide, and it will be a special experience to return with Tabitha as ‘Fanbassadors’ of the bp Adelaide Grand Final.
“I’ve always looked back on the event as being one of the greatest motorsport spectacles. For it to elevate to a grand final format, it will definitely be a must-visit event for all fans.
“I’ve seen up-close how cut-throat and nail-biting a finals format can be in NASCAR, and I’m excited to see that playout to decide the Supercars champion alongside Tabitha.”
Tabitha Ambrose said: “I’ve heard many great stories from Dad’s wins in 2004 and 2005 in Adelaide, and everyone I’ve raced or worked alongside has raved on about the event.
“Motorsport is such a unique, high-speed high-reward sport, and I’m excited to attend the bp Adelaide Grand Final for the first time under its new championship crowning format where that will be on display.
“As both a racing driver and a fan, being able to see the Adelaide Street Circuit for its 40th anniversary will be a nice moment, joining many other families and generations of fans that have supported us and the event.”
Mark Warren, CEO of the South Australian Motor Sport Board said “The event and the Adelaide Street Circuit have a world-famous history, and we are excited to have Marcos and Tabitha Ambrose herald in the new era of the bp Adelaide Grand Final as our 2025 ‘Fanbassadors’.
“To have Marcos return to the event he once dominated with his NASCAR ties, alongside Tabitha who represents the next generation of motorsport stars speaks to the calibre of the event we offer.
“The elevation to a grand final is monumental for the bp Adelaide Grand Final and the sport, and as seen by Marcos and Tabitha’s interest, we expect it to be an entertaining experience at every corner for all motorsport and sporting fans.”
Alongside the Repco Supercars Championship title-deciding races, multiple support categories and entertainment sessions will take to the track, with both the NAPA Speedway and the BOOST MOBILE AUSX Supercross championship returning for further off-track action.
Lenny Kravitz and AC/DC – supported by Jet and Amyl and the Sniffers respectively – will provide high energy concerts to round-out Saturday and Sunday evening, topping off an adrenaline fuelled and history making bp Adelaide Grand Final.
