Gaining the most from your Adelaide Grand Final ticket

The bp Adelaide Grand Final is not only the largest motorsport event in Australia, it provides the best value, too.

 

Not only are seven racing categories, a range of activities and experiences and after-race concerts included with each ticket, but a few other extras that help keep costs down for fans.

 

“We’re very cognisant of cost-of-living pressures and that a lot of our fan base are experiencing that,” says bp Adelaide Grand Final CEO Mark Warren.

 

“The important thing for us is to deliver a massive event that takes fans away from day-to-day life, to experience something adrenaline charged and fun, and I know that all the fans are really keen to be here.”

 

In fact, there are not many activities in South Australia that provide more than 14 hours of activities and entertainment daily for less than $100 per day*. Some ticket prices are even the same as they were last year and also cost significantly less than in 2020.

 

FREE PUBLIC TRANSPORT

 

All ticketholders can get to and from the event for free on all Adelaide Metro bus, train and tram service on all four days of the event, simply by showing their ticket when boarding.

 

A free CBD shuttle service, thanks to HomeStart, is also available from 17 stops around the city – including the Adelaide Railway Station, Victoria Square and Grenfell St – to connect public transport services with Victoria Park/Pakapakanthi.

 

The shuttle runs from 9am every day until 7pm on Thursday and 11.30pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. Dedicated O-Bahn shuttles will also be running.

 

TICKET INCLUSIONS

 

For starters, kids aged 12 and under can attend the bp Adelaide Grand Final for free in general admission when accompanying a paying adult, meaning some families will be able to attend for the cost of just one or two adult tickets.

 

bp Adelaide Grand Final ticketholders have exclusive access to the Kindig Custom Car Show, featuring American custom car masters and TV personalities Dave Kindig and Kevin Schiele in their first-ever appearance in Australia.

 

They will take part in public Q&A sessions, autograph signing sessions and the judging of Australia’s first Kindig Custom Car Show, featuring more than 80 immaculate and custom-built vehicles. Kindig is also bringing his iconic 1957 Chevrolet Corvette “Family Affair” for the car display.

 

At the TrAction Zone, professional motorcycle riders from Airtime FMX and the Xtreme Trials Show will perform for crowds. This year, you can also watch BMX riders collect Olympic qualification points as they compete in the Boost Mobile Freestyle BMX Invitational.

 

When the racing stops, the same ticket used to enter the precinct that day enables you to stay on for the Friday, Saturday or Sunday night concert. They all feature international music superstars, including global pop sensation Robbie Williams on Sunday night.

 

BYO FROM HOME

 

Whether it’s lunch, dinner and/or snacks through the day, you can bring your own food into the bp Adelaide Grand Final precinct.

 

Stay hydrated by bringing your own drinks (non-alcoholic) – just make sure that the manufacturer’s seal on the plastic bottle isn’t broken – and remember to bring an empty water bottle into the precinct to fill up for free as many times as you like during the day. Free water stations are located at several spots around the track – look for the water droplet on the track map.

 

You can also bring your own cooler bag to keep your own food and beverages cool, but leave the esky or foam ice box at home as they are not allowed into the precinct.

 

You can still treat yourself to food while on a budget, with many vendors advertising affordable options, including Moorish Bites which promises affordable street food that brings the flavours of Morocco to the race track.

 

For those in general admission, there are some places where you can sit for free, such as the Heritage Grandstand. However, spectators can bring their own folding chair or folding stool into the precinct.

 

FREE ACTIVITIES

 

Whether you’re wandering the perimeter of the circuit or have made your way over an overpass to inside the track, there’s something to see or do that’s included in the cost of your ticket.

 

All displays such as the MG 100 Year Car, Hot Wheel, Drag Car Display and Australian Defence Force Displays are free to access.

 

All children’s amusements in the HomeStart Family Zone are free as well as the maii Pedal Circuit where kids can pretend they are racing on the street circuit behind the wheel of a pedal car. Bigger kids may want to test their skills at the racing simulator.

 

Rides on the Ferris Wheel are also free for all spectators, thanks to South Australian ice cream partner, Golden North.
