Four drivers have secured their place in the 2026 Supercars Finals Series following a dramatic end to the Sprint Cup part of the Supercars season, with the winner decided in the final race of the Century Batteries Ipswich Super 440 at Queensland Raceway.
Broc Feeney entered the last Sprint Cup race 110 points behind Matt Payne, before the latter suffered an electrical problem and was forced to retire. Feeney went on to win the race and take Sprint Cup honours from Payne by 30 points.
By winning the Sprint Cup, Feeney qualifies for the finals and earns 25 bonus points for their start, which kicks off on the Gold Coast in October. Feeney will be joined by Payne, Brodie Kostecki, and Cameron Waters in the finals, having all now mathematically secured their spot entering the endurance events.
The rest of the top 10 in the championship standings at the end of the Enduro Cup following the Bathurst 1000 will also progress into the finals.
Despite the retirement in the Ipswich finale and losing out on the Sprint Cup title, Payne’s consistency over the sprint rounds has seen him score enough points to guarantee finals progression.
Kostecki won the opening race of the Ipswich weekend, with the points helping to cement his place in the finals.
Will Brown helped his final chances by breaking a year-long drought in the second Ipswich race. It was an emotional win for Brown and his team, following on from the discovery of an undersized engine air restrictor this season.
With four drivers locked into the finals series, six spots remain up for grabs at the endurance events at The Bend Motorsport Park and Bathurst.
Anton De Pasquale, Brown, Chaz Mostert, Ryan Wood and James Golding currently sit in the top 10 and would secure finals progression if they remain in those places at the end of Bathurst, with Jack Le Brocq leading the challenging contenders.
The Repco Supercars Championship now heads to South Australia for the AirTouch 500 at The Bend Motorsport Park September 11 to 13.
