One of Australias finest Custom Car Shows – a must see!

bp Adelaide Grand Final
24 Nov 2023
The Kindig Custom Car Show is one of the finest car shows ever crafted in South Australia and is on display at the bp Adelaide Grand Final.
More than 100 vehicles have been entered across three categories – Elite, Street Elite and Show N’ Shine.
The show is being judged by American TV personalities Dave Kindig and Kevin Schiele, from the TV show Kindig Customs, who have made their first trip to Australia for the event.
The popular duo are also taking part in Q&A sessions with fans and signing autographs.
“This is something that we’ve been very very excited about, to come down here and experience the car world down here in Australia,” Kindig says.
“A lot of work goes into our cars, so to come down here and see the same kind of work on these cars, and to see someone else work on cars we’ve never experienced – it’s cool to see that.”
Schiele, aka Kev Dogg, thanked all the entrants in each category for bringing their cars out for all to see.
“I’m blown away with the paint jobs and creativity that goes into them,” he says.
The show is located next to Highway 500, near Gate 1.
THE CARS YOU’LL SEE
1. KINDIG-IT DESIGN CARS
It took two months for Kindig and Kev Dogg to transport two of their custom-built vehicles to the bp Adelaide Grand Final Kindig Custom Car Show.
The first vehicle is the 1957 Corvette “Family Affair” that has been in Kindig’s family for decades and has undergone two restorations, including its nine-month custom transformation.
The second vehicle, unveiled to a huge crowd of fans on Friday, is yet to be seen on Australian TV screens and was customised as part of the Kindig Customs TV show.
The 1969 Camaro was built for a Texas family and not only looks pristine but features an extremely rare, 750-horsepower, 8000rpm naturally aspirated Mercury Racing SB4 engine.
2. ELITE CARS
The climate-controlled Kindig Custom Car Show pavilion is also home to Australia’s 20 best custom-built vehicles, sourced from across the country.
So beautiful and valuable are they that you’d never see them on the street, so pop in to see them while on display throughout the weekend.
Each vehicle’s owner has put in hours of painstaking work and passion into their vehicle and spared no expense to create not just immaculate cars but automotive works of art.
They have also taken extra-special care to present each vehicle in their own unique way, showcasing its distinct features and quality craftsmanship.
3. STREET ELITE CARS
From the vintage looks of the 1930s to the final Holden Commodores to come out of the Elizabeth factory, every era of automotive manufacturing from the past century is represented.
More than 60 immaculate vehicles in every colour imaginable – and some are multi-coloured – are on display in the Street Elite tent directly next to Highway 500.
While you may have seen versions of these kind of vehicles before, such as a couple of novelty vehicles (eg. a Batmobile) parked alongside legendary classics (eg. a Datsun 1600), the owners have taken these vehicles to the next level with their restorations.
4. SHOW N’ SHINE
From the 1920s through to today, predominantly South Australian cars are on show between the pavilion and the tent – and you may still spot some of them being driven on the road.
Each has a unique point of difference for you to spot, whether it is the paint work (or lack of), how the car doors open or the materials the car is made of – and you’ll be dying to get the chance to ride in at least one of these customised vehicles.
Judging of all categories is taking place across the weekend and all trophies will be presented to the winning car owners by Kindig and Kev Dogg at 9.35am on Sunday.
