SUPERCARS CHAMPIONSHIP BATTLE HEATING UP AS SPRINT CUP PLAYS OUT

bp Adelaide Grand Final
05 June 2026
The 2026 Repco Supercars Championship is shaping as one of the most competitive seasons in recent memory, with a mix of established stars, emerging talent and a changing manufacturer landscape creating plenty of intrigue as the series heads into the second half of the Sprint Cup phase.
After five rounds, Red Bull Ampol Racing’s Broc Feeney sits at the top of the championship standings and has emerged as the benchmark driver of the sprint events once again. Feeney has collected four race wins and regularly banked strong points, with his victory in the final race of the Tasmania Super 440 last time out further strengthening his position at the top of the standings in his bid to overcome the disappointment of missing out on the championship last season.
Grove Racing’s Matt Payne has continued his form after winning the 2025 bp Adelaide Grand Final and currently sits second in the standings. The New Zealander has taken two race victories and demonstrated a level of consistency in his bid to make it into the final four this season. Grove Racing’s rising star Kai Allen is also delivering impressive results, scoring his first race win this season.
Dick Johnson Racing’s Brodie Kostecki remains firmly in the title fight despite a difficult Tasmania round. Kostecki has shown exceptional speed throughout the year with five race wins – the most of any driver – though recent setbacks have seen him lose ground to Feeney, sitting in third place in the standings.
Further behind, Cameron Waters, Anton De Pasquale and Ryan Wood remain within striking distance of the leading group, while several drivers continue to battle for positions inside the finals cut-off.
Another major talking point in 2026 has been Toyota’s arrival in Supercars. The new GR Supra has quickly proven competitive, with Ryan Wood, Chaz Mostert and Andre Heimgartner delivering wins in Toyota’s debut Supercars season.
With Feeney leading, Payne and Kostecki applying pressure and Toyota now a race-winning force, the 2026 Repco Supercars Championship remains wide open. As the series moves towards the endurance events and the finals, the battle for the title is only beginning to heat up.
Four events remain in the Sprint Cup – Darwin, Townsville, Perth and Ipswich – before the Enduro Cup. The top 10 in the championship standings at the end of the Enduro Cup following the Bathurst 1000 will progress into the finals, with the four grand finalists who will battle it out for title glory in Adelaide being set following Sandown.
