22 Apr 2026

Supercars returns from its New Zealand doubleheader and will now head to the Apple Isle for the Tasmania Super 440, with the championship race wide open following action-packed races across the Tasman.

The New Zealand races saw the historic first Supercars win for the Toyota GR Supra courtesy of Ryan Wood; South Australian Kai Allen also scoring a maiden race win; and Broc Feeney claiming the Jason Richards Memorial Trophy for most points across both events.

Feeney leads the championship from Brodie Kostecki and Matt Payne, with six drivers from five different teams representing all three manufacturers having won races already this season. With so many contenders already claiming race wins, the championship battle is heating up as drivers look to secure their spot in the finals for a chance at the title at the bp Adelaide Grand Final.

Allen became the first driver to win a Supercars race on the South Island of New Zealand in Christchurch. It was the Mount Gambier native’s first career victory in Supercars in just his 47th race start, as he became the 89th driver to win a Supercars/ATCC race. Allen’s teammate, Matt Payne, scored his first wins of 2026, with both Grove Racing drivers inside the top five of the championship standings after New Zealand.

With Ford drivers filling the top five in the standings currently, the best of the rest is Wood for Toyota. Wood’s historic first win for Toyota at Taupō came in the manufacturer’s ninth race, as Toyota became the quickest new manufacturer to win in the Supercars era.

Following the two New Zealand events in Taupō and Christchurch, Supercars will now head back to Australia for the remainder of the 14-event season, ending with the bp Adelaide Grand Final.

The next event is the Tasmania Super 440, taking place on May 22 to 24 at Symmons Plains Raceway.
